Another Cup Match late stage, and yet another defeat but MARSH have done very well to get this far, and two semi-finals, in other Cups, with a small squad many of whom are new to this level of Football. A few other Teams contain older wiser heads from higher levels of Football, and some even pay their Players. Marsh Rangers F.C. are learning all the time and should be complimented on their performances this season, as well as in the League. “The League“ , we can now concentrate on the League again, where a top 5 finish would be excellent and hold us in very good stead for next season. Although we do not pay our Players, we try hard to charge them as little as possible during the season, whilst trying to give them as much as possible. Well Done LADS, now keep it going for a top 5 League position.
Marsh did not let themselves down against a star studied Hayes side, played at Yeading F.C. They equaled Hayes from the start and let them know that a “ game “ was in hand. In fact Marsh were the better performing team in the beginning, and this time put pressure on Hayes causing them many problems in their star studied defence. In the Marsh defence Craig Drew & Harry Thomas were again outstanding, with upfront the two “ Bradleys “, Grant & Hand, in excellent form pounding away at the Hayes goal. Somehow after around 34 minutes a free kick, with a still rolling ball, ended up in the Marsh net for a half time lead to Hayes.
The second half saw Marsh again attack from the off. Miles Wiggins and Tommy Edwards, both coming back from injury, played some excellent football in outstandingly wet weather, as did another previously injured player in Jonny Wiggins. This was a very good Team performance by Marsh but threatened when Hayes scored a wonderful multi passing goal for the second. Marsh could have given in ........ but rolled up their sleeves and fought their way back into this match. A centre into a packed Hayes area ended with PHIL TUBB forcing the ball home. This gave Marsh the upper hand and they caused near panic in the Hayes defence. All this hard work counted for nothing when a rare attack by Hayes ended, in the Referees opinion, with a ball hitting hand Penalty to Hayes. It was scored. Marsh still came back again and a wonderful goal from TOMMY EDWARDS. With time running out, and Marsh pushing onward for the equaliser, Hayes latched onto a loose ball in the Marsh defence and scored the killer goal.
Marsh Rangers F.C. looked almost back to their near excellent performances of earlier in the season, and hopefully very soon League points will start to come back.
