Supreme were last seasons Junior Middlesex County Cup Finalists, and had now been placed in the Intermediate section for this season. Perhaps not an easy match for Marsh Rangers F.C. Marsh had the kick off and from start to finish of the first half were well in control. The defence was always well in command, as usual, and the rest of the Marsh Team darted in and out of what seemed a static Supreme Team giving them a torrid time. Only very rarely were Supreme allowed to show their worth, but when they were they looked very good. Marsh though, were far ahead, as their goals showed. They should have opened the scoring after only 2 minutes when Miles Wiggins raced through and narrowly missed with his effort. Around 7 minutes later a flick on by Jack Bigwood was fired home by MILES WIGGINS. This time giving the keeper no chance. Many chances fell to Marsh, but it was not until the 38th minute that Marsh scored again. A free kick just outside the Supreme box was taken “supremely" (pardon the pun !!!) by JACK BIGWOOD who saw his effort shoot past the static keeper. This put Marsh in the driving seat regarding goals, and was further rammed home when constant pressure, in & around Supremes penalty area led to RHYS PRICE firing home the ball for number 3.
All seemed safe for the second half, and perhaps Marsh relaxed a little, but Supreme did not. The early encounters were evenly matched, but as time went on Supreme gained in confidence and were now fighting back strongly. Paul Nolan had played an excellent first half but had to come off due to injury which may also have had an effect on Marsh. Midway through the half Supreme pulled a goal back, but within a minute Marsh had scored again. Good play led to RHYS PRICE firing home his second of the Match. Supreme did not lie down, and with 2 minutes of normal time remaining earned a penalty. The pressure was still on them and ....... they shot high and wide. Marsh held out for around 6 minutes of time added on, due to an earlier injury, and won the 1st round match 4 – 2 . They will now play HFC in the next round at home on 14th November.
