In the last Marsh pre-season match we produced another WIN, this time against a useful Iver Heath Rovers Team who play in the Berks & Bucks League. In fact Iver scored first, after 10 minutes, with a solo effort from around 20 yards. A very good goal that our keeper just couldn’t get his hands to as It curled, and flew into the back of our net. Although not necessarily against the run of play we did appear to be in control of anything coming our way. Marsh had to gather in their thoughts, and regrouped their tactics. Soon Marsh were level when big BRADLEY GRANT rose majestically to head home a corner. Our defence was now in complete control and once again Phil Tubb, with Craig Drew, and Miles & Johnny Wiggins in front of determined keeper Adam Casey all played well as expected. The Marsh defence, even with a few out but still in contention, have formed a very useful relationship that allows them to cover for each other, whilst still being able to attack down the flanks. Harrison Ashby & Bradley Grant are surely ensuring their places with fine performances once again. Andrew Thomas had another rare game, and it must be said did not look bad. Paul Nolan retired injured, nursing his damaged ankle, and Lee Henderson is now well on the road to full fitness playing in a wide position, with Mat Monhon leading the attack . New boys Spencer Brown, Lewis Ousby & Tom Veal also put in fine performances, and must surely also be in contention next week for a start. [Headache for Manager Dave Campbell, but a nice one to have !!!! ]. The best goal in this game of excellent goals was scored by HARRISON ASHBY from a free kick. Placed just outside the Iver penalty area Harrison placed a superb swirling free kick around and wide of the Iver defence, past the keeper and in at full speed. SWEET.
The second half saw a number of changes for each side but Marsh just about stayed on top with Iver not too far behind. No further goals were scored as the sun blazed down on the players, and to be honest although they all enjoyed it they appeared happy when the final whistle blew, and they could take some cover, and drink.
