As Marshs League match away to Willesden was called off due to lack of changing facilities, Marsh were able to honour this Non League fixture away to Hertfordshire League side Martin Baker F.C.
Around 18 players turned up for this match, giving Manager DAVE CAMPBELL a headache. A nice headache though as most of these players are good stock, and useful to have around. The match got under way and after only 3 minutes Bakers were awarded a penalty for a rash challenge by keeper Adam Casey and Bakers scored. Marsh gathered their thoughts and led by Captain Harry Thomas fought back strongly. Except for the opening few minutes the Marsh defence of Adam Casey , Jonny Wiggins , Phil Tubb , Harry Thomas & Craig Drew, with at various times their replacements once again stood firm. Mat Monhon worked hard up front with various partners, and brothers Lee & Alex Henderson also turned out fine performances . Nice to see Alex back after his injury last season. Although it will take time after injuries to fit in Bradley Grant & Paul Nolan also put in good performances.
After around 46 minutes a deliberate hand ball in the Bakers area resulted in a penalty for Marsh. JONNY WIGGINS tucked it away with style. Marsh now dominated the match, although Bakers were never out of it. Keeper Casey was called upon to make a point blank save, which he did superbly. After around 62 minutes a pin point pass from Paul Nolan found its target in BRADLEY GRANT who fired it home after gathering it up, and beating the defence and keeper from way out. An excellent double move from 2 players on their way back from injury, and looking for a starting position. Bakers were playing well but the quality of Marsh shone through .
