Practice Match.
This was another trial Match for Marsh / Potential Marsh Players. A , aew different Players to last week took part in this weeks Match against a useful C.B. Hounslow XI Team. C.B. are always difficult to play so Marsh knew it was not to be an easy game. Once again C.B. did not disappoint and credit must go out to them for this.
Marsh Rangers F.C. are starting to get together the "understanding" needed to have a good season. Substitute keeper Phil Tubb played superbly in goal, and made some outstanding saves to help deflate C.B. The back four, minus regular Harry Thomas, was still outstanding. Craig Drew again played a dominating game and took control while brothers Miles & Jonny Wiggins blocked anything coming their way whilst both still overlapping down the wings very well. The midfield is starting to take shape but the forward line, although good, looks a little uncertain as to its best formation. Harrison Ashby and debutant Tom Veal look useful new Players, and Jack Bigwood again put in a good game. Other Players were moved around to find their best positions.
After excellent work on the wing JONNY WIGGINS fired home a goal to put Marsh ahead on 20 minutes and a little later hit the crossbar from outside the "box". On 33 minutes MAT MONHON met the ball in the middle of the C.B. area and fired an unstoppable shot home for number 2. C.B. were on the brink of collapsing but managed to hang on until half time.
The second half started with C.B. playing as if their lives depended on it. They drove Marsh back onto the back foot for quite some time. Marsh looked shaky at times but held out. C.B. were unlucky with some shots. At least two smashed against the posts, and Phil Tubb was in the right place at the right time for a few others. Marsh mustered their troops again and hit back with some excellent wing play, but the crosses went wanting in front of C.B.'s goal.
The game was well refereed by DAVE REEVE and his young assistants, who all kept the game flowing whenever possible, which added to the match.
All in all , this was another useful performance and if Marsh Rangers F.C. continue to progress an exciting season looks on the cards.
STAY TUNED
