On a good evening, a reasonably large crowd of around 52 people witnessed quite a close match. A number of ground hoppers turned up with the usual spectators to see this top half Marsh side play League winners Interwood F.C. Congratulations to Interwood F.C. on winning the Premier Division, but Marsh Rangers F.C. had earlier won away at Interwood, one of only two Teams to have done so. The first half seemed even with Interwood not taking the lead until the half hour. An “unguarded” moment allowed a close in goal but Marsh still were never over run.
The second half started with Interwood on the attack, and they raced into a 2 goal, then 3 goal ( due to an own goal ) lead. Marsh lifted their game and had the chance to hit back through a penalty. Up stepped Tommy Edwards and ....... turned away by a diving keeper. From the resultant corner TOMMY EDWARDS met the ball with his head to score. Miles Wiggins, yet again, put in a fine performance whilst Steve Cloherty covered every inch of the pitch. Sometimes his moves & tackles worked and sometimes not but he, and a few others showed a bulldog spirit. Miles raced through and hit the ball against a post, and later a few further chances were saved by the Interwood keeper. All credit to Interwood but a draw may have been fairer to Marsh.
