With a win, due to other matches not being played etc., Marsh could have gone 2nd only 1 points behind leaders Hayes Gate F.C. ...... but things don’t always work out the way you would like. Today was one of those days !!!
All started off well with a good warm up from Coach Tony Heath & Manager Dave Campbell. The team was certainly a decent one even though the squad was around 5 or 6 short. With all respect to Sloane, it appeared that the form Marsh have been in they would be able to get the points with ease. Maybe that was some of the problem !!! All credit to SLOANE who fought the second half like a table topping team. Marsh coasted into a 12 minute lead when a free kick by JACK BIGWOOD ended up through a number of players and into the Sloane goal. Sloane did have a number of good chances, which they missed, but Marsh just about edged it even though they missed chances as well. Just before half time Marsh broke through the static Sloane defence and with only the keeper to beat shot .......... w i d e !!
Even though Marsh only led by one goal , it was expected to be enough even if they scored no more. How wrong you could be . After 20 minutes into the half Sloane scored ...... then again ..... then again ..... and even again !!!! 4 goals in 21 minutes, including a penalty, against a Marsh side that had deteriated so rapidly it was almost unbelieveable. A few chances fell to Marsh but the Sloane keeper easily saved everything on target. Bradley Hand did fire in a shot that crashed against a bar but that was really that . Marsh ended the match as a tired, beaten side. With their next match being away to HAYES GATE F.C. can the management team lift them ? We will have to see.
The three officials performed well, and in no way could be blamed for this defeat. It was just a bad day t the office.
Note :: Manchester Utd. even lost, but QUEENS PARK RANGERS W O N .
