Once again this season these two teams were playing each other. Marsh were determined to give it a go, and did just that. After yet another slow start, Marsh found themselves a goal down after 3 minutes. Hayes cut into the area and fired the ball into the net. Again all looked bad, but Marsh showed their own class by fighting back strongly, and perhaps dominating the rest of the half. It was a major surprise that it took Marsh until the 28 minute to equalise.
Brad Hand eased the ball to STEVE CLOHERTY who drilled the ball past the helpless Hayes keeper. After various stoppages for injury, the first minute of stoppage time saw JACK BIGWOOD fire in a fierce free kick that evaded everybody and put Marsh ahead. This was no more than they deserved.
The start of the second half once again saw Marsh start sluggishly and again after 3 minutes gave away a Penalty. This was converted to level the scores. Bradley Hand was joined by Mat Mahon and both fired in a number of efforts but no goals. Paul Nolan, until an injury, played another tricky game, and Steve Cloherty & Jack Bigwood never stopped running and firing in balls, as did Alex Henderson from out wide. Miles Wiggins although still recovering from a cold helped keep the side running, as did Craig Drew & Phil Tubb. Somehow Hayes, perhaps showing their experience, held out the assault and hit back with an undeserved 3rd goal. Marsh did not falter and hit back themselves with a long range shot from MILES WIGGINS to again level the scores. (long range.. perhaps around 40 yards)
Late on, Hayes Gate again showed their skill with the winning goal, but Marsh had deserved more than just a defeat. A draw would have be fair, or even a win to Marsh ..... but that’s Football.
