With the pre match training from Coach Tony Heath, and the Team selection from Manager Dave Campbell it seemed “safe" for the Team to have their Photograph taken for season 2009 / 2010.This we did.
When the game got underway, in the very hot sunshine, it seemed obvious that Marsh were going to have a good match. With the defence of keeper Adam Casey, captain Harry Thomas, Phil Tubb, and brothers Miles & Jonny Wiggins yet again in total command defensively, the rest of the team was able to “show their worth" further forward ..... and they did. An excellent performance took place which left Deportivo unable to get out of their starting blocks. After 5 minute ALEX HENDERSON cleverly beat the off side trap and raced clear of the Deportivo defence to slot the ball past the bemused keeper. Still unable to get their game together, Deportivo fell further behind when 10 minutes later a cross by Alex Henderson was met by the head of JONNY WIGGINS again giving the keeper no chance. [I think at this stage the keeper probably wanted to go home. Certainly later on I think he had !!! ] On the half hour Paul Nolan, who had an outstanding half, weaved through the Deportivo defence and was upended on the edge of the box. TOMMY EDWARDS took the free kick and scored number 3.
At half time the impressive Paul Nolan was rested, and replaced by the equally talented Rhys Price, which gave the Deportivo team no rest bite. Further excellent work by Alex Henderson led to RHYS PRICE slotting the ball home for number 4. After further good work from Rhys Price, and a lay off by Bradley Grant, TOMMY EDWARDS scored with a left footer. In the sunshine, Marsh felt their job was done and eased up. This allowed Deportivo to show their worth and a breakaway led to their only goal. Suddenly Marsh were under a little pressure but easily withstood this and gathered their skills again. Alex Henderson raced up & down the wing causing extreme problems for Deportivo. On one occasion he gave the full back a good 3 yard head start and still got to the ball first ... Impressive Football !!! Fine performances were put in by the whole team, and subs, which continues to give Dave & Tony problems in selection, but nice problems. The team, although still early in the season, are starting to gel together very well.
