MARSH RANGERS F.C. 0

A below par Marsh side turned up for this match. Although still good, it was not perhaps the side manager Dave Campbell would have wanted to choose. Marsh played as if it was a stroll in the sunshine rather than an important Premier fixture. Yes, they played some good football ... for short periods. Yes, they passed the ball around well .... in their own half. Yes, they tried to push forward ..... without getting back when it broke down etc etc etc .
All credit to Broadfields, who controlled the game very well, playing some good football for long periods. They were fast off the mark, full of ideas, and fighting for each other. Broadfields took the lead after14 minutes when a muddle in the Marsh area saw the ball not cleared, A Broadfields leg was stuck out and the ball ended up in the Marsh net. After 22 minutes Marsh were playing the ball around midfield, not actually getting anywhere, lost it as Broadfields raced forward. The ball bounced over the Marsh defence and fell nicely for Broadfields to tuck away. Marsh then started to play some “better“ football but after 38 minutes Craig Drew was clearly pushed in the back, unseen by the Referee !!!!!, and the forward shot passed Phil Tubb for number 3. Alex Henderson was booked for appealing for the shove. A strange decision as later on a Broadfields Player was clearly heard to say to the Referee "F--K OFF“ when given off side and.........NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING was done.
Marsh looked a little better in the second half but the general team performance was poor. Roll on next week .... As football is a funny game, Marsh are back at Broadfields next week to play Singh Sabah Slough. Can they make up for this show?
